Startup Focus: Faleiro Advisee EcoHatchery Is A Finalist In AT&T’s “Powering the Future” Contest
EcoHatchery, a startup focused on helping individuals reduce their carbon footprint with online and mobile tools that reduce the burden many associate with going green, has made it to the finals of AT&T’s contest for mobile apps focused on energy efficiency. EcoHatchery’s Light Bulb Finder app is one of four finalists. The general public is invited to participate by submitting their vote from their mobile device at http://att.promo.eprize.com/app for a chance to win a $100 gift certificate to Amazon.com.

Startup Focus: Faleiro Supports the Angel Venture Forum
Faleiro is proud to support the founding year of the Washington metro area Angel Venture Forum. A group of angel investors, mentors, and experienced entrepreneurs, the Forum has a mission “to discover and develop strong companies, and to connect them with human resources, both financial and experiential, who will assist the companies in becoming ultimately more successful in the attraction of capital and positive exits.”
At the AVF Academy, hosted at Jones Day’s Capitol Hill office, Faleiro presented to a group of over 100 entrepreneurs and angels about building boards of directors and advisors.
As a part of the AVF program, a business plan competition will allow 30 finalists to present their pitches to angels and potential strategic partners on October 17-18 at the National Press Club in Washington, DC. More information is available at www.angelventureforum.com.
Advisory Focus: Software As A Service Product Launch
Having developed the original launch strategy and tactical implementation plan for the first generation of this product nearly six years ago, Faleiro has been re-engaged by the US arm of a European company to develop a targeted product launch plan for a new generation of software.
Advisory Focus: Market Penetration Model
Through its World Trade Center management arm, Faleiro and members of the market intelligence team assisted a manufacturing firm in the updating, revision, and continued development of a foreign market assessment model. Originally developed a year ago, the team reviewed the logic, variables, and numbers behind the model. Updates to time dependent data was provided, along with recommendations on modifications, refinements, and appropriate uses.
Startup Focus: MIT Global Challenge
Faleiro principals were invited to be judges for the Ideas Competition portion of the MIT Global Challenge. The Massachusetts Institute of Technology Global program promotes the collaboration of resources, innovation, and entrepreneurial spirit to “tackle barriers to well being.” Awards are given to teams that most effectively address developmental issues in communities around the world.
Faleiro principals dealt primarily with entrepreneurial companies in various stages of development. Water technology and diplomacy issues were of chief concern for the Ideas Competition, promoting innovative solutions to address and improve poor water sustainability in various developing nations. Startup Focus: William James Foundation
The William James Foundation is a Washington, DC based organization designed to support sustainable entrepreneurship through competition awards and feedback from experts who support the Foundation’s mission. Faleiro principal Christian Bartley was invited to be a judge for the 2011/2012 Sustainable Business Plan Competition. He was also a judge in the 2010/2011 competition. Advisory Focus: Global Digital Marketing Strategy
With manufacturing operations in North America, South America, Europe, and Asia, and sales and service operations in nearly 60 locations around the globe, ensuring that marketing messaging is relevant and meets the needs of multiple targeted audiences, while maintaining smooth marketing management, can be a challenge for a global corporation with such broad reach. Through its sister digital marketing firm, Varthema, principals and team members are working with this global manufacturer in the development and implementation of a global digital marketing strategy that resonates with customers, is manageable, and is in line with the client’s five year growth plan.
Advisory Focus: Asia Pacific Headquarters
Through its World Trade Center management arm, Faleiro and members of the market intelligence team assisted a US manufacturer select a location for their Asia Pacific regional headquarters. Previously located at corporate headquarters in the United States, with the growth of the client’s sales in the AP region, consideration was given to the possibility of moving regional functions to be closer to the customer. Working with the client, critical decision factors were developed, analyzed, and primary research was gathered, including interviewing several dozen companies regarding their APHQ decisions. Action / location recommendation were made. Company has since followed recommendation and officially opened its new Asia Pacific headquarters in the recommended location.
Varthema: A New Firm Focused on Global Digital Strategy
With the growth of the global marketplace and the ubiquitous adoption of the Internet as the foremost platform for marketing, corporations with worldwide operations are facing new challenges balancing consistency and effectiveness of messaging, maintaining brand integrity across a multitude of cultures, and managing and executing effective global digital strategies. To address this pain point, the Principals of Faleiro spent two years in the analysis of such challenges, interviewing CMOs from global corporations ranging from US$250 Million to US$25 Billion in annual revenue. The information gathered allowed for the development and refinement of strategic processes that has led to the creation of Varthema, a blended consultancy / agency that helps global corporations develop an effective digital marketing strategy within the confines of their brand consistency and overarching strategic plans.
