European Companies Seek Clarity on the US Market

While Faleiro has seen a number of companies temporarily pull back from their investment in the US, recent speaking engagements and media appearances have given evidence that European business is at least seeking clarity on where the United States is headed in terms of its economic and trade policies. Casey Lembke, Economic & Trade Policy Analyst, and Danny Thomas, Trade & Regulatory Advisor, have been paying particular attention to cabinet appointees, regulatory reform, and policy proposals in an effort to be able to provide guidance and assist Faleiro clients with scenario planning. Managing Director Christian Bartley recently presented information compiled by the team to a group of business leaders in the Netherlands, hosted by the World Trade Centre Twente.

While in the Netherlands, Bartley also appeared on three different television programs, including Goedemorge Nederland (Good Morning Netherlands), and several newspapers. The interest in the new leadership in the United States was evident. The question now is whether European companies continue to look at the United States as a hub of investment for the Western Hemisphere, or whether they shift their focus to other countries in the region.
